PTP 100 for 100

As part of the 100 years of CMC Town Campus celebration, the PTP 100 for 100 campaign was launched in August 2024. This CMC family monthly giving drive aims to support 100 more patients through the Person-to-Person (PTP) this year.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the 100 staff members who signed up! You have enabled us to support 36 more economically disadvantaged patients. Of course, a special mention to the 450+) generous PTP Champions who are already helping to bridge the gap for deserving patients and their families.

PTP thro’ my eyes

A story and video competition was announced where staff were invited to share their experiences of how they have had a first hand experience to see a patient benefitted by CMC’s charity. We are delighted to share the winning entries of the PTP thro’ my eyes story and video competition!

PTP – A Patient’s unique story of healing in CMC through subsidised care

Written by

Mr. John Leeson

Department of Pulmonary Medicine

32-year-old Roshni from West Bengal had a persistent cough that had lasted longer than six months. She suffered from other symptoms like chest pain, fatigue, weight loss, pleural effusion, loss of appetite, and recurring fever. She visited a local health facility and was initiated on treatment for sensitive TB. But she didn’t find any relief. Due to worsening of her condition, she visited a larger hospital. She was told she needed an operation, but the risks were high and they would not be able to operate there.
In tears, her husband was desperate. Their family depended on his daily wage income from polishing wooden doors. He came to know about CMC through a friend and they started to travel to Vellore immediately. The long journey from Asansol, West Bengal to Vellore, was like a dream for them.

In CMC, she was admitted under Pulmonary Medicine, and her diagnosis came as Pre – XDR TB (extensively drug resistant TB). She was started on the most advanced drugs free of cost. She had the procedure she needed. Her entire treatment was supported through generous donors amounting to over ₹3.5 lakh.

Roshni started recovering and healing well. With constant follow-up, she has now completed her 18 months of treatment and is declared cured.
As she left CMC Vellore, on her final visit, she spoke to me with tears in her eyes, saying “We got admitted in CMC during February – it was the day of our wedding anniversary. I thought this is my last anniversary. But the care of the Doctors, Nurses, and Social Worker helped us to overcome the Pre – XDR TB. The treatment was tough and we faced a lot of struggles due to the side effects of the drugs. But we are financially supported and emotionally taken care of well in CMC.”
A small donation can help ordinary people like Roshni. You can make a difference for them today!
