This applies to income tax payers in India. If you don’t pay tax in India, you may be able to get income tax relief in you live in Australia, Canada, Germany. Sweden, UK or USA you may find it more convenient and tax effective to donate through our partner charity in your country. Click here for links to their websites.
When you make a donation to CMC, provided that you provide us with your PAN we will send you a receipt which bears a seal certifying that the donation is valid for income tax exemption.
Most donations to CMC are valid for tax relief under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. This allows you to set off 50% of your gift against your taxable income in your income tax return, so reducing the amount of tax you have to pay. So the actual final cost to you of the gift can become significantly less than the amount you gave to CMC. This applies on up to 10% of your income for the year.
Gifts for Scientific Research (ie medical research) to CMC are eligible for a higher rate of tax relief—up to 100% for individuals (u/ S80GGA) and 150% for companies or for income from a business or profession u/S.35(1)(ii).
Let us say you donate Rs.100 to CMC (and this is less than 10% of your income).
This is how much tax you will save:
