The Emergency Fund for poor patients is a charitable scheme in CMC Vellore which is supported SOLELY by generous donors and well-wishers around the world. This fund helps subsidise operations and procedures for economically disadvantaged patients who travel to Vellore from all over India.
In the last year, your gifts helped 195 patients who needed treatment at CMC. These patients and their families contribute whatever they can towards their medical care. The Emergency Fund tops up this amount, allowing CMC’s medical team to plan treatment immediately, without worrying about the costs.
On average, the Emergency Fund subsidises around ₹70,000 (£609/ $816/ €702) per patient. The typical support needed per patient is ₹1 lakh, but due to limited funds, we are currently able to provide only ₹70,000.

25-year-old Abdul is a data operator living with his family in Assam. He suffers from Chronic Kidney Disease and had surgery to remove one of his kidneys. Unfortunately, Abdul contracted Tuberculosis (TB). Despite taking Anti-TB Treatment, his illness forced him to stop working. Abdul traveled for two days by train to reach CMC Vellore. The Department of Pulmonary Medicine diagnosed him with Multi-Drug Resistant TB (MDR-TB). They consulted CMC’s urologists to treat his kidney disease.
Abdul’s brother, a driver, put together ₹15,000, nearly two months of his wages. However, Abdul’s treatment would cost more than ₹1 lakh. A grant of ₹70,000 from the Emergency Fund and the department’s special funds, helped Abdul get admitted in the general ward and start treatment immediately.
The generosity of friends like you helped save the life of this young man and give his family hope for the future.
