Today, 9 December 2024, we fondly remember our Founder, Dr. Ida Scudder’s birthday. She dedicated her life to serving the underprivileged, especially women and children in South India. Her one-bed clinic has grown to a 3,675-bed medical institution spread across seven campuses. We are excited to share that 2025 will mark 125 years of dedicated service and contributions to education, healthcare, and research. This milestone reflects CMC’s enduring commitment to excellence and community impact.

Dr. Ida Scudder’s legacy of caring for the poor has lived on all these years. We are grateful to each one of you, our valuable members of the Friends of Vellore family, for journeying alongside us through your support with prayers and gifts.

So today, as we celebrate the 154th anniversary of our founder’s birth, I would like to highlight Dr. Ida’s prayer:

Father, whose life is within me,
and whose love is ever about me,
Grant that Thy life may be maintained in my life today and every day,
as with gladness of heart, without haste or confusion of thought,
I go about my daily tasks,
conscious of the ability to meet every rightful demand,
seeing the larger meaning of little things,
and finding beauty and love everywhere.
In the sense of Thy presence, may I walk through the hours,
breathing the atmosphere of love rather than anxious striving…
