Dear Friend,
Blindness cuts us off from things but deafness cuts us off from people - Helen Keller
Brothers Hameed and Armaan were born in a village in Bihar. They were quiet children but the family soon realised something was terribly wrong because both the boys could not speak or respond to sound. They were diagnosed with severe deafness. They can be cured by implanting a small device in their ears, doctors told their parents. The family collected a few lakh rupees for the surgery but this was not enough.
In despair, the family came to CMC Vellore. Our friends in Australia wanted to support one child. When they heard about the brothers, they raised enough for both children! After successful cochlear implant surgery, the brothers are now learning to speak and listen.
As India celebrates 73 years of freedom, we gratefully remember the hands that helped two little brothers take their first steps towards independence!
Friends like you make it possible to help children like Hameed and Armaan. Donate to CMC today and help us bridge the gap!
Thank you for your support,
Hugh Skeil
