Update #4

On 24th May 1960 we bid farewell to our founder Dr. Ida Sophia Scudder. On the anniversary of her death, let us pause to give thanks for her life and legacy. Her compassion and love live on through CMC’s staff, students, alumni and family of friends and well-wishers around the world.

To pay tribute to Aunt Ida, we are partnering with Shepherd Films to make a documentary film. Today, we are share Update#4. Filming continued in April 2024 at ‘Hilltop’ her beloved home in Kodaikanal and other locations of significance. Watch this 2-min photo update of the progress so far.

The Script Review Committee, comprising of the core team along with senior faculty representatives, senior alumni representative and Chaplaincy representative, met last month to go over the script for Episode 1.  

We ask for your prayers as this project moves forward. We have crossed the halfway mark on our fundraising target – thanks to the generous individuals and Alumni Batches who have helped us raise over 50% of the budget of ₹50 lakh.

Update #3

We are happy to share update#3 on the filming of the Dr. Ida Scudder documentary project. Filming continued again in February 2024 in at CMC’s Bagayam, Town, Schell and Chittoor Campuses. Other key filming locations included Poosimalaikuppam, Arni and Gudiyatham, all formerly within the area of the Arcot Mission. The team also visited the archives, museums and libraries in Chennai for background research. Watch the video below for behind the scenes action.

The upcoming shoot will continue at Vellore, Tindivanam and Kodaikanal in the coming weeks. A Script Review Committee has been established comprising of the core team along with a senior faculty representative, a senior alumni representative and a Chaplaincy representative. We ask for your prayers as this project moves forward in the production and post-production stages.

Update #2

We are happy to share update#2 on of the Dr. Ida Scudder documentary project. Filming started in January at Vellore. Members of the Scudder family, Drs. James & Susan Taylor were present at the launch and dedication shoot. Watch the progress of this project and some behind the scenes action in the video clip below.

Update #1

To honor her legacy, we are partnering with Shepherd Films to make a documentary on Dr. Ida Scudder and CMC Vellore. The film will be produced by Mr. Aneesh Daniel, best known for his award-winning film ‘The Least of These – the Graham Staines Story’. The Project team has been working intensely on pre-production. Filming will commence next week. We hope to release the first episode of the film in early 2024. The subsequent episodes will tell the story of Dr. Ida’s co-workers, and pioneering leaders and highlight the contributions of CMC.
